’Glob and the Creation of Knowledge’ (trailer)

Description

This film looks into the power of film language and how we create knowledge about the world around us via audiovisual material. In unused newly digitized material shot in the Persian Gulf in the 1950s and 60s, a ‘cultural tension’ takes place in the very fabric of film material. The disagreement opposes the almost deaf Archaeologist P.V. Glob and the Danish Media about how to represent the past and present Arab world. While P.V. Glob was looking for traces of a common denominator for humanity in the past going across cultural differences, the media continuously strove to reaffirm the divides between Western and Arab culture.

Trailer screened at Archidoc Pitching, 18th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, March 2016.
