Description
How can we exchange and communicate non-verbal knowledge? And how can the camera be used as a tool in this process? Exchanging Experiments is a short anthropological experiment which tests the borders of camera interaction and intimacy between a performer, a camera and an anthropologist. A moment of crisis is created through the experiment, and the flow of power and desire in this unknown water is explored. The film is made by three visual anthropology students in collaboration with Butoh dancer, Michiyasu Furutani.
Biographies
Anne Scherrebeck Hansen: Master student in Visual Anthropology at Aarhus University, graduated 2017. Anne’s study of interest is how performance can be used as a tool for social development and political mobilization. Within visual anthropology she is particularly concerned in the dynamics and interaction between cameraperson and informants.

Amalie Vilslev Juelsgaard: Master student in Visual Anthropology at Aarhus University, graduated in 2016. Amalie’s field of interest is affects and the human body, and how we can use visual anthropology as a means to explore these. In her work she experiments with the borders between anthropology and art, through film, photography and performance.

Sofie Husum Johannesen: Master student in Visual Anthropology at Aarhus University, graduated in 2016. Sofie’s main field of research is the experience and conceptualization of altered states of consciousness, and how audio-visual anthropology can be used as a sensory and experimental approach to communicate and convey experience.
